Frequently Asked Questions
The Food Fraud Scorecard is an online tool designed to simplify the process of identifying and assessing any fraud risks associated with the ingredients in your products.
By answering a series of questions, you will generate a report summarising the risks for each ingredient and scoring them on a reliable scale which can be provided to an auditor.
By asking a series of relevant, guided questions about each ingredient, covering the likelihood, detectability and profitability of potential fraud, the tool can automatically calculate and quantify the degree of risk associated with each ingredient.
The tool provides a PDF report for each ingredient, ranking the overall risk to food fraud along with individual scores for likelihood, detectability and profitability of potential fraud. All of your final raw material food fraud scores then can be ranked in order, so that the most significant risk are identified.
Your business can then easily identify which of your ingredients are at the highest risk of fraud and take steps to reduce this risk, before providing the PDF raw material reports and final ranking report to your auditor.
Managing the fraud risks associated with all of the ingredients across your product range is often a time-consuming and difficult process requiring expert knowledge to search through potentially confusing and conflicting sources of information.
This tool isolates and highlights each of the important areas, providing guidance and assistance on where to find the answers. All information is saved in your account, so that once the process is done once you can re-use and update the information for your annual food fraud reviews and track the improvement of your risk scores over time.
Each report costs a single credit. Credits can be purchased in your account, with bulk discounts given for large purchases.
Yes, because the Food Fraud Scorecard assists you to identify and rank your potential risk to food fraud.
If your business is not operating to a GFSI bench marked food safety management standard and does not have supplier approval processes, purchasing specifications or robust systems for receiving materials, then it is more vulnerable to accepting fraudulent material and this tool will identify that risk.
If your business is not operating to a GFSI standard, but would like to learn more about food fraud and risk assessment, you can attend one of the ICS training courses on this topic:
If you have not answered all the questions the Food Fraud Scorecard will calculate a higher vulnerability rating.
To maximise benefit from the use of the Food Fraud Scorecard, you should collect as much information as possible before you start. This will ensure that you can answer all questions accurately and in turn receive the most accurate risk ranking. Each raw material report has a score of “uncertainty” recorded.
If the information input is not accurate/correct, the risk ranking will not be accurate. Note that if you do this, the resulting assessment documents are unlikely to be acceptable to an GFSI auditor because they will not contain a complete explanation of how the risk assessment was performed. To obtain a more accurate result, every question should be answered.
This will allow you to prioritise your time and focus on the most important raw materials and ingredients first.
The Food Fraud Scorecard calculates likelihood of occurrence, detection and profitability based on the information entered by the user. The reported results are based on the user’s answers as they have been entered.
